What is a domain name?
A domain name is your unique spot on the Internet.
- Use your domain name for your website: Point your domain name to a website. This can be a website that you have already created and that you want to host at Easyhost (see our hosting rates) or that you are going to create using Easyhost’s Sitebuilder, which is very easy to use.
Visitors who enter your domain name in their browser will be redirected to your website. - Use your domain name for your e-mails:
Create as many e-mail addresses as you like. You can choose anything you want before the at sign. You can have that e-mail forwarded to your existing e-mail address, or link it to a small (5GB) or large (25 GB) mailbox that you rent from Easyhost.
What is a good domain name?
A well-chosen domain name is the key to your success on the Internet. It helps people find you on the web more easily. Here are a few tips:
- Choose a domain name that is easy to remember
- Avoid confusion with alternative spellings and register these variants yourself (e.g. bakerbarrie.be and bakerbarri.be)
- Include important keywords in your domain name (baker). This will help you improve your Google ranking.
- Do the radio advertising test: is your domain name easy to remember without having to spell it out letter by letter?
How can I register a domain name?

Tip: If you want to register a domain name that has already been registered by someone else, you should first reach an agreement with its current owner. After that, you can order the domain and provide us with the transfer code. Once you have done so, the domain will be in your name.
What happens when the registration of my domain name expires ?
We will send you a notification by post and e-mail well before the domain name expires. You will then have the choice of either renewing your domain name or letting it expire.
If you let the domain name expire, you will not have to pay anything extra, but it will be made available to others to register. If you renew your domain name, you will remain the owner. At Easyhost, you will have to pay the normal price of a domain name per year for the renewal, without discounts or extra charges.
We do however recommend that you let a domain name expire only in exceptional cases. Because someone else may then register that domain name, pretend to represent your company and damage your good reputation!
What are the new domain extensions?
A domain name consists of the actual domain (bakerbarry) and the domain extension (.be or .com). In recent years, the number of possible domain extensions has greatly increased to over a thousand. This means you will always be able to register a domain name that you want!

Transferring your domain name to Easyhost
Have you already registered a domain name, but not with Easyhost? Transfer your domain name now and enjoy all the extra services we offer you for free, such as forwarding, e-mail addresses and the very convenient control panel.
Follow these three steps:
- Make your domain available for transfer at your current provider and request a transfer code.
- Go to our "Buy a domain" page where you can check the availability of your domain name. You will receive a notification that the domain name is already taken. Select the "Transfer" option and place your order.
- We will then send you an e-mail to confirm your transfer. And we will take care of the rest!
Buying a domain name from another person
Has someone else already registered the ideal domain name for your project? Try to reach an agreement with the current owner so that you can buy the domain name for yourself.
Follow these steps:
- Use the WHOIS feature to find out who owns the domain name. Contact the owner and try to reach an agreement.
- Did it work? Ask the current owner to make the domain available for transfer, by requesting a transfer code and sending it to you.
- Do you have the code? Go to our "Buy a domain" page and check the availability of your domain. You will receive a notification that the domain name is already taken. Select the "Transfer" option and place your order.

Redirection to your Facebook page
